7-DAY WBC WEIGH-IN RESULTS

Los Angeles, CA (October 11, 2014) Seven days out from their highly anticipated “Mexican Style” showdown, WBA/IBO Middleweight World Champion GENNADY “GGG” GOLOVKIN and WBC Interim Middleweight Champion MARCO ANTONIO “El Veneno” RUBIO were both within the prescribed limits set forth by the World Boxing Council rules.
For the WBC Official 7-Day Weigh-In, Golovkin tipped the scale at 165lbs., while Rubio weighed in at 167.5lbs.
“We’re a week out and both fighters appear to be in excellent shape,” said Tom Loeffler, Managing Director of K2 Promotions.
Set for this Saturday, October 18th, “Mexican Style” is headlined by the highly anticipated 12-round world middleweight title fight between Boxing’s fastest rising star, WBA/IBO Middleweight Champion, GENNADY “GGG” GOLOVKIN, 30-0-0 (27KO’s)and WBC Interim Middleweight Champion MARCO ANTONIO “El Veneno” RUBIO, 59-6-0 (51KO’s).
Golovkin is wrapping up his training with Abel Sanchez at The Summit High Altitude Training Facility in Big Bear Lake, CA while Rubio is in Oxnard, California with Robert Garcia at the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy.
“Mexican Style”ispresented by K2 Promotions and GGG Promotions in association with Promociones Del Pueblo.
The co-feature bout on October 18th is a featherweight showdown between 2012 Fighter of the Year and four-division world champion NONITO “The Filipino Flash” DONAIRE, 33-2-0 (21KO’s)and undefeated world champion NICHOLAS “The Axe Man” WALTERS, 24-0-0 (20KO’s)who will battle it out to determine the undisputed World Boxing Association (WBA) featherweight world champion. Donaire vs. Walters is presented by Top Rank®.
Bout world title bouts will be televised Live onHBO World Championship Boxing® beginning at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.
