UPDATE: BUTE INJURED………HBO Returns May 25 With Pascal-Bute, Froch-Kessler
HBO Sports lights up Memorial Day weekend with an action-packed day-night doubleheader of world-class prizefighting when WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING: JEAN PASCAL VS. LUCIAN BUTE AND CARL FROCH VS. MIKKEL KESSLER II is presented SATURDAY, MAY 25 (6:15 p.m. ET/3:15 p.m. PT, live from London; 10:00 p.m. live from Montreal ET/tape-delayed PT) from the O2 Arena in London and the Bell Centre in Montreal, exclusively on HBO. The HBO Sports team will call all the action, presented in HDTV and in Spanish on HBO Latino.
Other HBO playdates: May 26 (8:30 a.m.) and 27 (11:00 p.m.)
HBO2 playdates: May 26 (4:30 p.m.) and 28 (11:00 p.m.)
First, super middleweight titleholders Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KOs) of Nottingham, England and Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KOs) of Copenhagen, Denmark renew their heated rivalry in a 12-round match on Froch’s home turf, live on HBO at the O2 Arena in London. Their first fight, in April 2010, was a slugfest that ended with a Kessler triumph. This rematch also has a prime-time replay at 10:00 p.m. (ET/ PT).
Following the replay of Froch vs. Kessler II, Montreal hosts the biggest fight in Canadian history when the country’s top rivals, Jean Pascal and Lucian Bute, meet. Pascal (27-2-1, 16 KOs) has never backed down from a challenge, confronting American stars Bernard Hopkins and Chad Dawson. Now he meets fellow Montrealer Lucian Bute (31-1-0, 24 KOs) in a 12-round showdown. Bute, who has fought splendidly at super middleweight, apart from a loss to Carl Froch last year, moves up to light heavyweight for the battle.
All HBO boxing events are presented in HDTV. HBO viewers must have access to the HBO HDTV channel to watch HBO programming in high definition.
