Roach On Next For Cotto: “We Knock Canelo Out”
So with Miguel Cotto taking the rest of 2014 off, it looks more and more like the Puerto Rican will let his middleweight title hang on the mantle, while he chills, and waits for a Super Fight, against Canelo Alvarez.
All the writers who love to bring up the Mexico vs. Puerto Rico rivalry can finally be happy that the nationalistic pride will be flowing in truly immense measures.
So, Freddie Roach, what happens when your guy Cotto scraps with the Cinnamon Kid? “We were trying to get in a fight this year, a December date, but no. (So are we saving the next date for Canelo?) That’s what we want. And no, that’s not a tossup fight. We knock Canelo out. We knock him out. I think he’s way overrated. Way overrated. His training methods suck, he doesn’t work that hard, he gets tired. Miguel will crush him. Sure, if we talked two years ago…but Cotto listens very, very well, follows instructions, and he just has to fight smart, use his intelligence and his experience, and when he does that…After that fight, Golovkin will be next. If he can sell some pay per views. He doesn’t sell yet.”
Total LOL. Love when Freddie stirs the pot. Thing is, sometimes trainers make a difference, other times not so much. I think we cal agree the Cotto-Roach pairing has helped Cotto BIGTIME. So, let’s talk Cotto-Canelo in the Forum. What happens in that fight?
