Source Says Pascal Has Multi Fight Deal Brewing With InterBox
Got my ears to the walls, and I’m hearing that Jean Pascal, the Haitian-born light heavy ace, is getting his near and longer-term plans in place. A source tells me that JP is cementing a multi fight deal with InterBox, several fights worth, and that he has a pathway that will lead to some compelling bouts.
I’m hearing that Pascal will be appearing on a Dec. 6 card at the Bell Centre, against the ever-ready TBD. Pascal and Lucian Bute, topping that card, will within the framework of this new deal renew acquaintances. Pascal (29-2-1, with 17 Kos; ex WBC 175 champ) beat the Romanian-born Quebecois on Jan. 18, 2014, via a wide UD. Bute is 34, and needs to get past 35-3 Roberto Bolonti on the top of that Dec. 6 Bell Card to stay as a name in this game.
The Pascal pathway could see him beating TBD Dec. 6, and then hooking up for something juicier, against a Sergey Kovalev, Bernard Hopkins, maybe Adonis Stevenson in the first quarter of 2015. Then, win, lose or draw, if Bute is viable, they could do the rematch thing, which will likely draw well in Canada.
From what I hear, this deal will be beneficial to Pascal, keeping him busy, and well fed with greens. Stay tuned, I think specifics are coming out soon…
