Congratulations To The 2014 TSS Reader of the Year
It is…man, I don’t want to say it, because I don’t want to diminish the talents and the output of the aces who make up our staff….but I can make the argument that the content in our Forum is MAYBE the strongest element of TheSweetScience.com.
I really don’t want to lobby that case, because it sends a negative message to the talented and devoted tappers of keyboards who comprise Team TSS. But only if you choose to interpret it that way…really, I don’t.
I more so choose to appreciate the Forum bounty, and savor the efforts of guys who log on frequently and every darn time manage to amuse, and inform, and make me think. They do it in a manner that sometimes makes me contemplate asking some of these cats–I don’t want to leave out anyone, so I’m not naming names–to leave their 9 to 5, and join us tappers.
Longtime readers know we have for the last several years decided to give a shoutout to that person who contributed the most to the TSS Forum, as our Reader of the Year…and this year is no exception. Other years, an advisory board and me chose the winner. This year, we had a most successful and dare I say innovative concept in place to choose our winner. Our Forum contest, which saw us building the ranks of regulars in that milieu, saw TSS rewarding the top posts in the TSS and the Boxing Channel Forums every two weeks. First, second and third placers were awarded points for their finish, and we kept track of the cumulative points tally.
We pored over the numbers, how many times posters won first, second, or third place in the twice-a-month runoff. And when the numbers got crunched, we saw that for 2014, a newcomer to the Forum ranks, a relative “overnight sensation,” would be receiving a majestic salute. One man’s efforts stood a bit taller than the rest of the pack. Oh, and the pack was crowded, friends, let’s reiterate that.
But the 2014 Reader of the Year Award for the year in boxing 2014…drumroll please, Mr. Bonham….goes to… The Commish.
The Shadow flurried hard, and his ring generalship was something to behold during this campaign. He can take slight solace in knowing that he earned a silver medal with his posts during 2014.
But the volume, and consistency of effort, and breadth of knowledge, and enthusiasm, and for the tone his presence set in the Forum, The Commish gets the gold for the year.
Commish…Thank you, for being that stalwart presence, for being a friend to boxing, to TSS, for your boundless enthusiasm and positivity and collection of recollections and anecdotes and analyses and predictions and observations…in short, all of it.
You brought so darned much to the table, and we thank you, and we salute you.
Congrats, Commish, our TSS 2014 Reader of the Year.
