Is Heiland Next Up For Golovkin?
The rumor mill, with an assist from social media, has been abuzz with what’s next for HBO’s smiling assassin No. 1..or is it No.2, with Krusher Kovalev being No.1?
I digress…The pride of Kazahkstan, the boyish-faced man with destructive hands, Gennady Golovkin, wants to be a busy body, a throwback fighter in that he wants to fight regularly. Four times a year is what his squad wants, so even though he just fought—no Freddie Roach, NOT in Morocco!–Team Golovkin will announce his next on March 17.
We heard that Jorge S. Heiland, coming off a win over contender Matthew Macklin, is lead dog to get the gig, with Willie Monroe taking to Twitter to say he didn’t get the nod, and Tureano Johnson thus far not getting word that he’ll get the dance date, either. That maybe leaves Heiland, a left-handed Argentinean with a 25-4-2 mark. What about it, “Honest’ Abel Sanchez, what if it is Heiland up next for Trip G?

“I just looked him up, if he is up next, he is OK,” the Cali based tutor told me. “He is rated higher in the ratings than the others, he’s willing to step up, has a good resume. Making sure Gennady fights four times this year is important.”
