Counting Down to Orlando Salido vs. Rocky Martinez
ROCKY MARTINEZ IS READY FOR “THE WAR” AGAINST ORLANDO SALIDO ON APRIL 11 AT THE COLISEO DE PUERTO RICO IN SAN JUAN
DORADO, PUERTO RICO- Roman “Rocky” Martinez trained today for the media in Puerto Rico, focused on his title shot against the World Boxing Organization (WBO) junior lightweight champion, Orlando “Siri” Salido, dubbed “The War”, to be held on Saturday, April 11, at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in a PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP) presentation, in association with Zanfer Promotions which will be broadcast on “Pay Per View” in Puerto Rico, United States and Canada for all Cable TV and Satellite systems.
Martinez (28-2-2, 17 KOs), who reigned twice in the WBO junior lightweight division, works every day with his coach Raul “Papo” Torres at the Dorado Municipal Gym, where they work also with trainer Freddy Trinidad.
“This has been the best training of my career. I know that I will face a strong rival, who comes to fight, who falls and rises, so I have to be in the best condition,” Martinez said after his training. “I’m getting ready to win by knockout or decision. If he drops and I’m not knock him out, I’ll be ready to win by decision.”
The Vega Baja native, who will face in Salido a Mexican warrior with a record of 42-12-2, 29 KOs, is using for this training an Elevation Training Mask. With this mask the boxer increases lung capacity, improves the efficiency of oxygen delivery and contributes in energy during training.
“I feel great wearing the mask. I have used it and I am working hard with it,” said Martinez, who right now weighs 139 pounds.
In his media day, Martinez worked stretching and floor exercises, did five rounds of pads with his trainer Papo Torres, and several rounds on the punching bag and the speed bag.
Also in “The War” world ranked Jose “Chelo” Gonzalez (23-1, 18 KOs) and Sharif Bogere (26-1, 18 KOs) will be facing off for the vacant WBO Interconental lightweight title and former Olympian and world title challenger McWilliams Arroyo (15-2, 13 KOs) will fight against former world champion Ramon Garcia Hirales (20-5-1, 12 KOs) for the WBO Latino flyweight title.
“The War” between Salido and Martinez will be broadcast on “Pay Per View” at $39.95 for Puerto Rico, United States and Canada on all Cable TV and Satellite systems.
