Question: Will Malignaggi Work MayPac for Sho/HBO?
All the pockets of drama have been ironed out as we head to this home stretch of this race to collect oodles of cash, and to see if indeed Manny Pacquiao can be the one to bring the majestic talent Floyd Mayweather down a peg, force him to taste defeat.
All the pockets, save one. OK, maybe two…as Bob Arum told me the other day, he expects some sort of “sneak attack” to pop up in the remaining days, and frankly, both sides are not immune to being able to stir the pot and inject doubt and anxiety in a foe at the 11th hour. It’s part of the game…
Paul Malignaggi, the mouthy pugilist/analyst from Brooklyn, is perceived as persona non grata to some in the Mayweather/ HBO camp. We hear they’d prefer he not be part of the show on Saturday, because he’s pulled no punches on social media in taking aim at Pacman for various perceived transgressions.
So what about it, Paulie? You going to be part of the show?
“Not sure,” said the hitter, who gloves up May 29 vs. Danny O’Connor, in Brooklyn, in a bid to see what he has remaining in the physical reservoir, at age 34. “I’m hearing mixed news, but I have a fitting for a tux later, so I assume yes, lol.”
And if by some chance he gets turned down, the kid will bounce back. “I’m still working with SKY regardless so I will be working somewhere on fight night.”
