Boxing News: Freddie Cuevas/Kendall Gill Fight in Chicago Saturday Night
CHICAGO, Ill. (June 22, 2005) – Dominic Pesoli's 8 Count Productions, home of THE BEST IN CHICAGO BOXING presents KO CHICAGO RADIO every Wednesday night at 5:30pm on WJJG AM 1530.
KO CHICAGO RADIO is Chicagoland's only boxing radio show and features the finest discussion about national and local boxing news each week. Previous guests have included Fernando Vargas, Lamon Brewster, John Ruiz, Bob Arum, Angelo Dundee, Carl Moretti, Christy Martin, Rocky Juarez, Joe Tessitore, David Diaz and Freddy Cuevas. KO Chicago Radio features Dominic Pesoli, President of 8 Count Productions, home of THE BEST IN CHICAGO BOXING, Ken Fletcher, “Master of Ceremonies” at all 8 Count Productions events, Chicago's boxing historian Marshall Christopher, Mikey DeSimone, as well as Bernie Bahrmasel, publicist for 8 Count Productions and Double B Publicity Inc.
The huge card is headlined by the return of Chicago favorite, “CLASSY” Freddie Cuevas, 24-7-1 (16 KO s) as he makes his return to the 8 Count ring. With knockout wins over former world champions Wilfredo Rivera and Charles Murray, Cuevas is looking to make a run into the world rankings leading to a title shot.
A special attraction bout has former NBA Star, Kendall Gill appearing in his professional boxing debut on the FISTS OF FREEDOM card. The fourteen year professional hoops veteran and former University of Illinois standout has been training diligently at JABB Boxing Gym for the last 18 months.
The outstanding undercard features separate bouts including local favorites featherweight Frankie Tafoya, 4-0 (3 KOs) bantamweight Francisco Rodriguez, 3-0 (3 KOs), middleweight Ottu Holifield (4-0) and super middleweight Donovan “DA BOMB” George, 4-0-1 (3 KOs).
