Liam vs Liam 2 Results From Newscastle – As expected, the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle hosted an electric main event between Liam Smith and Liam Williams. The bout was a rematch of a controversial first meeting that resulted in  a win for Smith.

Despite the vitriolic talk and the heat between the two men, the bout settled into a methodical pace in the early going. Williams was more measured when compared to his fireball start in their first meeting but he seemed the more active fighter in the early going. Smith was definitely more in this fight as he kept a tight defense and was looking to answer. By the middle rounds “Beefy” Smith had started to bank rounds as Williams’ offense seemed to stall at times. Williams corner advised him that he needed to win the final three rounds.  The bout went to the scorecards after 12 rounds and the win went to Smith by a majority decision.

IBF East/West European titlist Josh Leather was making a title defense against rival Glenn Foot. Leather seemed to come into the fight cold and Foot took advantage, working forward and dropping Leather in round two. Leather fought bought in the middle rounds and by round  six, Leather turned the tide in his favor.

British super bantamweight champion Thomas Patrick Ward successfully defended his belt against the challenge of once-beaten Sean Davis. Ward was solid in his first title defense, and in the end Ward retained with a unanimous decision giving him the win on all three cards.

In heavyweight action, up-and-comer Nathan Gorman took a while to get started against Mohammed Sothby. Sothby seemed game in the early going but he slowly lost steam as Gorman worked the body. Gorman got busy in the fourth and he earned the referee’s stoppage in the fifth for his efforts.
