Tonight, Maurice “Might Mo” Hooker is defending his WBO Junior Welterweight world title against the number one contender Alex “El Cholo” Saucedo at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.

Hooker (24-0-3, 16 KOs), a Dallas Native, will be facing Saucedo (28-0, 18 KOs) in his home town of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Hooker’s last bout was in Manchester, England, where he earned a split decision win against the hometown hero, Terry Flanagan.

Saucedo moved to Oklahoma City from Mexico when he was just seven years old. He signed with Top Rank at seventeen and earned his title shot on June 30^th, when he knocked out Lenny Zappavigna in the seventh round. If Saucedo beats Hooker, he will become the second boxer (next to Sean O’Grady who won the WBA lightweight crown in 1981) from Oklahoma City to win a world title.

The Hooker-Saucedo fight is headlining a special one-fight telecast on ESPN at midnight ET. Egidijus Kavaliauskas (20-0, 16 KOs) is facing Roberto Arriaza (17-0, 13 KOs) in the co-main event that is headlining the ESPN+ stream at 6:30 pm ET.

Main Event – After being knocked down in the second round for the first time in his career, Maurice Hooker beats Alex Saucedo  by TKO in the seventh-round.

In the co-main, two-time Olympian Egidijus Kavaliauskas knocked out Nicaragua’s previously unbeaten Roberto Arriaza in the third round. Kavaliauskas (21-0, 17 KOs) won a WBO regional lightweight title, kept his undefeated record intact, and inched closer to a match with Terence Crawford. Arriaza was 17-0 coming in. In an 8-round bout in the lightweight division, undefeated Albert Bell improved to 13-0 (5) when Columbia’s Carlos Padilla (16-9-1) was pulled out after six rounds. It was Padilla’s fifth straight loss.

In a middleweight contest scheduled for 8 rounds,  Tyler Howard turned heads with a first round stoppage of Isiah Seldin. Howard advanced to 16-0. Seldon, the son of former WBA heavyweight title-holder Bruce Seldon, fell to 12-2-1.

Former IBF 122-pound world champion Jonathan Guzman scored a 10-round unanimous decision over Roberto Castaneda. Guzman faded late but won by scores of 99-91 on all three cards.

In an 8-round light heavyweight contest, Trevor McCumby scored a unanimous decision over Felipe Romero. McCumby won by scores of 78-73, 78-73, and 78-72.

In a fight slated for 10 rounds in the junior welterweight division. Cletus “The Hebrew Hammer” Seldin put away Nelson Lara with a body punch in 26 seconds of the opening round.
