Finding Value in Boxing Lines

In boxing, there was a time when wagering exclusively on the underdog could be a profitable venture. Three upcoming fights fit that description: Joshua vs Ngannou, Tszyu vs Thurman, and Haney vs Garcia.

The long odds on each fight are perfect for betting opportunities. However, in each case, no real argument can be made that the underdog could also very well be the victor.

First up is Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou. It says here that it was more Tyson Fury not looking like Tyson Fury that created the drama in his last outing. Major props to Ngannou, who might have one of the the single greatest backstories of all time.

Some guys get old between fights, Fury looked like he got old between rounds. While we hope this is not the case, we’ll need to see one more outing by boxing’s Gypsy King to know if he’s grown long in the tooth. But the less than stellar outing may have allowed Ngannou to look much better than he really is at the point. We like Joshua an awful lot in this one. Underdog Ngannou does not warrant a wager.
