Andre Ward Signs With Roc Nation
The rumor mill has been grinding for months now. Andre Ward severing ties with Goossen Promotions, and going to Roc Nation boxing, to be their building block as Jay Z and company seek to make their imprint a massive one on the sweet science.
Rumor became reality today, and Ward took to social media to break the news.
((It’s official!! #NextChapter Happy to be a part of the @rocnation family. #RocNationSports #SOG))
That went out at about 11:30 AM, and coincides quite nicely the debut of Roc’s first fight card. That takes place TONIGHT, at the MSG Theatre, with Dusty Harrison-Hernandez in the mainer, against Tommy Rainone. You can watch on Fox Sports 1. I will be calling it with Gus Johnson and Rich Marotta, full disclosure…
NOTE: I called over to Goossen Promotions, and talked to matchmaker/exec Tom Brown. He amiably offered a “no comment” when asked about the Ward contract dissolution/resolution and he said they all were preferring to look forward, not backward.
