Andy Lee-John Duddy To Meet In March
We will soon know who the best Irish-born expat pugilist is…(Hogan Photos)
Andy Lee-John Duddy is set for March 12 at Foxwoods, on the undercard of the Sergio Martinez-Sergiy Dzinziruk middleweight scrap.
This fight has been much rumored about, and we hear that the wait didn't do Team Duddy much good. One source tells us that the management for the 31-year-old “Derry Destroyer” asked for too much moolah, and accepted less than perhaps was on the table a few months back.
Lee, ranked No. 5 by the WBO, brings a 24-1 record to the table, and the 26-year-old southpaw might have the edge with his youth, and his tutor. He is trained by the king of Kronk, Manny Steward. He stayed busy in 2010, notching four wins in four outings against mid-tier foes. Duddy (29-2; not in the top ten of any organization) is coming off a loss, to Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on June 26. The fight actually upped his rep, because he hung tough and looked to do damage til the final bell, even though Junior was way ahead on the cards and doing some considerable damage.
HBO will televise.
So, who do ya like?
