Terry Trekas, One Punch Productions Go On Hiatus

After 5 or 6 months of serious contemplating. I have decided to step away from running shows for the immediate future. For the remainder of 2011, and most likely all of 2012, One Punch Productions will not be staging any events. This was not an easy decision, but the time and financial constraints of the events simply are not sustainable at this time. Costs have risen over 70% over the past 6 years, while revenue has remained flat. Since I never got into this for money, that in and of itself was not a deal-breaker. However, the amount of time that doing a show keeps me away from my other business interests IS a deal-breaker. In this economy, my other businesses require my full time attention.

So with that being said, I am stepping away from promoting. I will not however be selling my company, my name, or any of my intellectual properties. I still represent Marcus and Quinton Willis, and will continue to do so. It is probably likely that sometime down the road I may get back into doing events, but nothing is certain.

The success we had over the last decade came with plenty of help. The support of Kim Park and the Tampa Westshore Doubletree Hotel, Chuck and Jennifer Schwartz from Scarlett’s, and Brett and Crawford from Ker’s Winghouse was instrumental to our longevity. We certainly could not have done it this long without them. And many people along the way were also a key to our success. Mike Sean from Crew Entertainment handling our DJ duties, Joe Ingrao taking care of our lights, Billy Cress handling the ring setup, Robby Christian and his crew along with assistance from TPD handling security, Tampa Fire handling our EMT needs, Joel Routman and Steve Neville from Allegra Print & Imaging, Leo from Rude Bwoy Printing, Terry Washington and Joe Greco handling gloves and card girls, my former nemesis-turned-partner Pete Fernandez, top marketing guy Ivan Echevarria, former Fight Factory owner Michael Asmer, matchmakers Jimmy Waldrop and Johnny Bos, Richard Fabian, Kelli “Slacker” Wilson, Mike Wakefield handling the limousine and ground transportation needs, and of course my mom Joanne and my sister Ivy, who handled our box office duties.

We also could not have done it without the support of the boxing community, and our longtime clients. I appreciate each and every ticket you ever bought, because without your support, we would have stopped doing this a long time ago.

I hope to see all of you out and about at other shows, and I will continue to support my friend Joe Valdez and his RFC events. If I can be of any assistance with my other businesses, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Equinox Energy Systems is doing great things in the solar technology field, and Sentry Towing & Recovery is just getting started. I’d love the opportunity to earn your business in either of those markets.
