Boxing News: Christy Martin On Friday Night Fights Tonight
Women’s boxing superstar CHRISTY MARTIN, will appear in-studio on ESPNews’ “The Hot List” at 5:10 P.M. ET and ESPN2’s “Friday Night Fights,” 9-11 P.M. ET Tonight!
Known as “The Coal Miner’s Daughter,” Martin, 46-3-2 (32 KOs), from Bluefield, West Virgina, will take on undefeated Lucia Rijker, 17-0 (14 KOs), from Amsterdam, in the WBC women’s super lightweight championship — “Million Dollar Lady” — the richest event in women’s boxing history. The winner is guaranteed a cool $1 million!
The long-awaited rumble between the two greatest fighters in women’s boxing history, takes place Saturday, July 30, at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino and will be televised worldwide live on pay-per-view!
“Lucia Rijker is a bully, like the ones you see on a schoolyard playground,” said Christy. “Like all bullies, once you stand up and fight they always back down. Lucia has followed me for seven years and now she’s got me. Her excuses will end July 30.”
