Boxing News: Hitman Hearns Hits Palace in Auburn Hills
Fresh off his no contest Nolo contendere for laying championship hands on his teenage son, Thomas “The Hitman” Hearns returns to “legitimate” action Saturday night, Feb. 4, at the Palace in Auburn Hills (MI).
Headlining a nine-bout card, called “The Legend Continues” and presented by Donofrio Boxing Inc. in association with Harley Brown's First Round Productions, the future hall-of-famer faces-off against Indiana’s own Shannon “Sandman” Landberg (58-10-3), who last fought on November 29, 2003 at the Boot Scootin’ Bingo Parlor in Lafayette (IN), in a ten-round main event.
Also on the card, another of Hearns’ sons, undefeated super middleweight Ronald Hearns (7-0, 5 KOs), aka the Motor City Cobra (one of his dad’s former aliases), will take on Missouri’s Kirk Douglas (10-10) – not the actor, the fighter – hailing from the Show Me State of Missouri.
Rounding things out Saturday night, middleweight Tyrone Brunson (8-0, 8 KOs) faces James Morrow (8-1, 4 KOs) and junior welterweight Lanardo Tyner (9-0, 6 KOs) meets Leo Martinez (8-6).
Tickets range from $15 to $500 and are available at the Palace Box Office, from TicketMaster or by calling (313) 407-1187 or toll free (800) 312-0300.
Palace doors open at 6 p.m. and the fights start at 8 p.m.
