Boxing News: Larry Mosley Signs with Golden Boy
LOS ANGELES (October 4, 2005) – Golden Boy Promotions, home to one of the largest collections of established talent and rising stars in the boxing world today, is pleased to announce the signing of welterweight standout Larry Mosley to a promotional deal.
“I’ve watched Larry Mosley from his amateur days, and I’ve always been impressed by not only his skill level, but his knowledge of the ring,” said Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya. “I’m glad Larry has joined the Golden Boy team, and together, we’re gearing up for a run at the welterweight championship in 2006.”
“It’s always been a dream of mine to have the right team behind me to help me achieve my goals in boxing,” said Mosley. “Now, with legendary champions like Oscar De La Hoya, Bernard Hopkins, Marco Antonio Barrera, and Shane Mosley behind me, I feel that when I get into the ring, I can’t be stopped.”
Mosley, 25, was impressive in his last fight on August 4th, when he stopped previously unbeaten Alexis Divison in four rounds. But Mosley has been impressing boxing insiders for a while now, going back to his days in the amateur ranks, where he won the 1995 and 1996 junior Olympic championships, the 1997 President’s Cup, and the 1998 and 1999 U.S. Amateur championships.
As a pro, Mosley has compiled 14 wins, with five knockouts and just a lone six round decision loss in 2002.
He will be back in action soon.
