Boxing News: Scott Harrison and Michael Brodie Ready to Rumble
WBO featherweight champion Scott Harrison (left) and challenger Michael Brodie square-off after Thursday's weigh-in in Manchester, England. Both boxers tipped the scales at the division-limit 126 pounds.
Harrison defends his title against Brodie in Friday's main event on “ShoBox: The New Generation” on SHOWTIME (11 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast). In the co-feature, WBO No. 1 contender Michael Jennings (146 1/2 pounds) faces Gavin Down (147 pounds) in a 10-round welterweight bout.
The “ShoBox” doubleheader is the first of back-to-back SHOWTIME telecasts from Manchester. On Saturday, Kostya Tszyu defends his IBF junior welterweight crown against Ricky Hatton on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING (9 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast). The eagerly awaited Tszyu-Hatton scheduled 12-round bout begins at 2 a.m. in England.
