Prior to that Thurman scored a knockout win over Diego Gabriel Chaves in the 10th round of a scheduled 12 round bout that took place on July 27, 2013 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio which was also for the interim WBA world welterweight title. Julio Diaz
The 34 year old Julio Diaz stands at 5 feet 8 inches tall and fights from an orthodox stance. Also known as “The Kidd” he hails from Mexico and now resides in Coachella, California. Diaz is the 5th ranked welterweight from Mexico and is ranked 41st in the world. Diaz has a career record of 40 wins, 9 losses, and 1 draw. Out of his 40 career wins 29 have come by knockout while 5 out of his 9 losses have come by knockout. Diaz is coming off back to back unanimous decision losses to Shawn Porter on September 12, 2013 and Amir Khan on April 27, 2014.
