The Interim WBA world welterweight title will be on the line on Saturday from the StubHub Center in Carson, CA as Keith Thurman will face Julio Diaz. Keith Thurman opened as a -1750 favorite with the Boxing odds while Julio Diaz was a +1050 dog.

Thurman is coming off a technical knockout win over Jesus Soto Karass on December 14, 2013 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas which was for the interim WBA world welterweight title. Thurman scored the TKO in the 9th round of a scheduled 12 round bout. Prior to that Thurman scored a knockout win over Diego Gabriel Chaves in the 10th round of a scheduled 12 round bout that took place on July 27, 2013 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio which was also for the interim WBA world welterweight title. The 34 year old Julio Diaz stands at 5 feet 8 inches tall and fights from an orthodox stance. Also known as “The Kidd” he hails from Mexico and now resides in Coachella, California. Diaz is the 5th ranked welterweight from Mexico and is ranked 41st in the world. Diaz has a career record of 40 wins, 9 losses, and 1 draw. Out of his 40 career wins 29 have come by knockout while 5 out of his 9 losses have come by knockout. Diaz is coming off back to back unanimous decision losses to Shawn Porter on September 12, 2013 and Amir Khan on April 27, 2014.
