Guillermo “The Jackal” Rigondeaux will face Hisashi Amagasa for the WBO World Super Bantamweight title on December 31, 2014 at the Bodymaker Coliseum in Osaka, Osaka, Japan. Rigondeaux opened as a -10000 favorite with the Boxing odds while Amagasa was a +1600 dog.
Guillermo “The Jackal” Rigondeaux
The 34 year old Guillermo Rigondeaux stands at five feet four and one half inches tall with a reach of 66 inches and fights from an orthodox stance. Rigondeaux is a native of Cuba and resides in Miami, Florida, USA. Rigondeaux is ranked number one in Cuba and third in the world. Rigondeaux has a career record of 14 wins, no losses, and no draws. Out of his 14 career wins a total of nine have come by knockout.
Rigondeaux is coming off a knockout win over Sod Kokietgym in the first round of a scheduled 12 round bout that took place on July 19, 2014 at the Cotai Arena, Venetian Resort, Macao, Macao SAR, China for the WBA Super World Super Bantamweight title and the WBO World Super Bantamweight title.
Rigondeaux first won the WBA World Super Bantamweight title in a split decision win over Ricardo Cordoba on November 13, 2010 and has held the title belt ever since. He added the WBO World Super Bantamweight title on April 13, 2013 with a 12 round unanimous decision win over Nonito Donaire which he has held in two title defense bouts as well.
Hisashi Amagasa
The 29 year old Hisashi Amagasa stands at five feet ten and one half inches tall and fights from an orthodox stance. He is a native of Japan and currently resides in Tokyo. Amagasa is ranked first in Japan and ranked 11th in the world. He has a career record of 28 wins, four losses, and two draws. Out of his 28 career wins a total of 19 have come by knockout. Amagasa has never suffered a knockout defeat.
Amagasa is coming off a 12 round technical knockout win over Ryo Takenaka on October 15, 2014 in Tokyo fir the OPBF Featherweight title.
