Boxing Returns to Brighton Beach

Sal Musumeci’s Final Forum and matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz are returning to Brooklyn on Saturday, December 11, 2004, to the Atlantic Oceana in Brighton Beach for a night of championship boxing.

The main event of the evening features Olympic silver medalist Sultan Ibragimov (13 0 11 KOs) of Rostov na Donu, Russia, defending his WBO Asia-Pacific Heavyweight Title against James “Hurricane” Walton (19 5 2 10 KOs) from New Orleans.

Sultan Ibragimov is a heavyweight on the move. He is someone to watch.

The co main event is a title defense by Uzbekistan’s Timor Ibragimov (15 0 1 9 KOs) of his WBC Fecabox International Heavyweight Title against Billy Douglas Jr. (10 3 8 KOs) of Columbus, Ohio. Douglas is the son of James (Buster) Douglas, who shocked the boxing world by knocking out Mike Tyson in Tokyo in 1990.

Adding to the international flavor of the card will be appearances by three Israeli boxers. Merhav “The Sergeant” Mohar (11 1 4 KOs) from Kfar Saba faces Mike Dobbs (9 11 7 KOs) of Oklahoma City in an eight-round welterweight contest. In a second welterweight bout, Nimrod Koren (8 0 1) from Tel Aviv will face off against Terry Johnson (4 9) of Dayton, Ohio in a six-round fight. Following her countrymen into the ring will be Hagar Shmoufeld (2 1 3), also from Tel Aviv, facing America’s own Jeannine Garside, making her professional debut in a bantamweight four-rounder.

In another four-round bout, light heavyweight Jason Quick (4 0 3 KOs) from New York goes up against William Santiago (2 1 1) of Bayamon, Puerto Rico. And last but not least, Golden Gloves super heavyweight champion Derrick Rossi (1 0 1 KO) from Medford, NY will do battle with Richard Kelley (0 1) of West Virginia.
