Bradley Fires Back At “Haters” Who Chide Him For Disloyalty
Tim Bradley took to the mic at the Wynn today and said he’s ready to fight Saturday. He hesitated, during the final presser ahead of his clash with Brandon Rios, and said he wasn’t sure if he wanted to deliver a planned monologue..and then did so.
He protested that he’s a smart person, and said he owns more homes than he can count, and he doesn’t owe the bank anything, and has money for his kids’ college. He said he is smart, and as evidence, picked the best promoter, and one of the best managers, in Cameron Dunkin. A couple years ago, he dumped Dunkin, and had his wife Monica take over. He explained he told Monica to learn everything from Dunkin, so he could save ten percent.
Bradley was reacting to chatter in the press and on social media about dumping long time trainer Joe Diaz, and basically said that he’s smart, and that he did the right thing there, when he replaced him with Teddy Atlas.
My take: he was speaking from the heart, with emotion, and feels maybe somewhat defensive about maybe being perceived as disloyal, ahead of that HBO clash with Rios on a Top Rank card.
Fans, you talk to me. Did you see his speech? How did you perceive it? Me, I think being business savvy is great. But loyalty is to me more praise-wrthy than saving that ten percent. Would he have gotten to this place without Dunkin’s help in steering? And what about sticking with the same partner who got you to the big dance, in Diaz? I don’t know…I thought the performance was weird. Your thoughts?
