Braehmer Defends 175 Crown Saturday
Juergen Braehmer (46-2, 34 KOs) insists he is in peak physical condition ahead of his WBA World Light Heavyweight title defence against Konni Konrad (21-1-1, 11 KOs) on Saturday, September 5 at the EnergieVerbund Arena in Dresden, Germany.
At today’s pre-fight press conference, the evergreen champion revealed his pleasure at a perfect training camp heading in to his fifth successive world title defence.
‘’Before my last fight with Krasniqi, I was sick with the flu,’’ said the 36 year-old southpaw. ‘’But this time, I‘ve had no handicap. My training has gone exactly as planned. I feel stronger than ever and ready to deliver a devastating performance in Dresden!’’
The champion’s words are echoed by the challenger Konrad, who has described himself as being in the ‘’form of his life’’ as he prepares for a second world title attempt.
‘’I feel completely relaxed and prepared for Saturday night,’’ said the 30 year-old from Cologne. ‘’Many people crumble in front of such an opportunity, but I’m different. I’ve done everything possible for this fight, and we have the perfect game plan. Nothing can go wrong!’’
Braehmer’s coach Karsten Roewer is not worried by Konrad’s claims, believing that they will be ready for whatever the challenger has to offer. ‘’Konni has a very different style to Juergen’s previous opponents,’’ says Roewer. ‘’But we have prepared accordingly and I don’t expect any surprises.’’
The WBA World Light Heavyweight Championship contest between Juergen Braehmer and Konnie Konrad headlines a stacked card in the Saxon capital featuring Mateusz Masternak’s WBA Intercontinental Cruiserweight clash with Carlos Nascimento, Noel Gevor’s WBO International Cruiserweight title challenge against Daniel Alejandro Sanabria, and German young guns Stefan Haertel and Leon Bauer.
