Devon Alexander Injured, Kell Brook Fight Postponed
The injury bug hit boxing again. Devon Alexander has a bicep injury, and has put off his Feb. 23 faceoff with Kell Brook, which was slated for Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.
Danny Garcia’s rib injury two weeks ago forced the Feb. 9 card at Barclays Center in Brooklyn to be scrapped and his main event tussle with Zab Judah to be put off till April. Boxing is getting a taste of what has been plaguing UFC recently….
The Detroit card will soldier on, with a K9 Bundrage-Ishe Smith beef staying put, and being elevated to the stop slot. A Golden Boy press release announced that, “A new date for the Alexander-Brook bout is currently being scheduled and will be announced shortly.”
No sport has a rumor mill as rich as boxing’s so the Devon pullout spurred talk, no surprise. Could there be another shoe to drop? Could the bicep be a convenient occurence, what with a certain “Money”man still not having locked down a foe for his May date?
