Dibella's Double A Squad Has Advanced To Division Championship
“We had a good regular season and closed strong, winning three of our last four games. Now I'm hoping that we can carry over that success and make a run here in the playoffs,” stated Lou DiBella, Team President and Managing Partner of the Flying Squirrels.
The post-season berth is the first in the second year of existence for the Flying Squirrels. The San Francisco Giants' former Double-A affiliate, the Connecticut Defenders, last advanced to the playoffs in 2009, ultimately falling in the Eastern League Championship Series to the Akron Aeros (Cleveland Indians).
Games One and Two of the Eastern League Western Division Championship Series had to be rescheduled due to torrential rainfall and the chance of flooding on City Island in Harrisburg, PA.. Originally scheduled to be played at Metro Bank Park, these first two games are now being held at The Diamond (Richmond's home field) on Friday, September 9th and Saturday, September 10th, giving the Flying Squirrels two guaranteed first-round playoff home games as opposed to one.
Game Three of the best-of-five series is tentatively scheduled to be played on Sunday at Metro Bank Park in Harrisburg with the game time to be determined. In addition, if necessary, Games Four and Five are tentatively scheduled to be played in Harrisburg as well with the date and time to be determined.
Single-game ticket pricing for all post-season home games will remain the same as regular season ticket pricing. Fans can also purchase the Flying Squirrels Playoff Package which includes Diamond Club tickets for ALL potential home games at a special price of $8.00 per ticket, per game played. Fans will only be charged for games which are actually played. Every home playoff game will feature live pre-game music on the AAA Ultimate Fan Zone Main Stage and fireworks following the game.
