Double Dynamite at the Fairgrounds
Saturday night Sal Musumeci’s Final Forum Boxing presented an outstanding event at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Middletown, New York. The main event featured two undefeated super middleweights, John Duddy of County Derry, Ireland against Victor Paz of the Bronx, N.Y. The first round opened with both fighters’ letting fists fly with authority. Early on Paz landed a solid blow that appeared to get Duddy’s attention. Paz seemed to gain confidence and made the error of trading shots with the heavy-handed Duddy. The end came at 2:04 of the 1st round when Duddy’s left hook dropped Paz, causing Referee Pete Santiago to halt the bout. Duddy is now 5-0-0 (5Ko’s) and Paz goes to 7-1-0 (1Ko)
In a Heavyweight bout, New York Golden Gloves 2004 Super Heavyweight Champion, Derrick Rossy, of Medford N.Y. in his pro debut took on the durable Jose Luis Gomez, of Cayey Puerto Rico. Gomez was down early in the round, ruled a slip by Referee Ken Ezzo. A solid combination by Rossy followed, which resulted in Gomez being counted out at 1:39 of Round #1. Rossy is now 1-0-0 (1Ko) while Gomez drops to 1-3-0 (1Ko)
In a Six (6) round Special Attraction, popular White Plains Welterweight Ann Marie Saccarato 7-0-2-(3Ko’s) handily defeated Cimberly Harris, 2-3-0 of Clearwater, Florida by Unanimous Decision.
In a Lightweight six (6) rounder Freddie Soto, 6-1-2 (3Ko’s) Bronx, N.Y. took on the cagey Luis Lopez, 1-7-1 (1Ko) of North Bergen, N.J. It was an action bout with Soto taking a Unanimous Decision by scores of 59-55 twice and 58-55
In a Featherweight “barn burner” Max Daguizan, Far Rockaway, N.Y. and Angel Torres, Yonkers N.Y.,both fighter’s making their professional debut,fought to a four (4) round Draw
In another four (4) round Lightweight bout Darrell Crenshaw, Philadelphia, Pa. got off to a solid start in his pro debut, soundly beating Terrance Thomas, of Newberg N.Y. by Unanimous Decision.
