Edwin Valero Found Dead In Jail Cell; Boxer Apparently Killed Self
A day after being arrested for stabbing his wife to death, boxer Edwin Valero was found dead in a jail cell.
The 28-year-old hanged himself, using his clothes, according to an AP report. An attempt was made to revive him, as he still had a pulse, the report said, but Valero succumbed.
Valero had been arrested Sunday after police found the body of his 24-year-old wife Jennifer Viera in a hotel in the city of Valencia, Venezuela.
The free swinging boxer had held the WBA super featherweight and currently held the WBC lightweight titles.
