ESPN All Over Tyson-Douglas, 25 Years After
ESPN Commemorates 25th Anniversary of Tyson vs. Douglas
ESPN will commemorate one of the greatest upsets in sports history across its platforms this week in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the epic world heavyweight title bout between Mike Tyson and Buster Douglas. The bout, which took place on February 11, 1990 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan, ended in a 10th round knockout victory for the underdog Douglas, which marked the first time in his career that the then dominate and undefeated heavyweight champion Tyson had been knocked out.
ESPN2 will televise the fight tonight (2 a.m. ET) with ESPN Friday Night Fights’ Todd Grisham opening the telecast.
ESPN Classic will also televise the entire fight tonight (7 p.m., 8p.m., 9 p.m. and 11 p.m.).
In addition, Outside the Lines will include a special feature tomorrow (3 p.m., ESPN) with Douglas reflecting on the moment that made him famous. ESPN’s Jeremy Schaap will provide the report.
ESPN.com will have comprehensive content about the historic bout, including features by ESPN.com’s Dan Rafael and Nigel Collins.
