Fernando Vargas Hits Chicago Saturday Night
CHICAGO (August 5, 2005) – Main Events and 8 Count Productions are proud to announce the arrival of “Ferocious” Fernando Vargas in Chicago. He arrives this Saturday night at O'Hare Airport at 8:00 pm. His arrival at the baggage claim area in Terminal 3 will be met by a full Mariachi band. Fans of “El Feroz” and all members of the media are cordially invited to join in the proceedings.
Fernando will also appear at the Miller Machina Musical Festival this Sunday afternoon at 3:00 pm at Plaza Garibaldi, 2600 S. California in Chicago. Vargas will speak from the main music stage to the expected crowd of 20,000.
Additionally, world-ranked Chicago junior welterweight David Diaz and former NBA star Kendall Gill will appear in sparring sessions at the festival as they prepare for their undercard matches at “Return to Battle,” Chicagoland's biggest professional boxing event of the year.
“Return to Battle” takes place at the Allstate Arena on Saturday, August 20th at 6:00 pm and is headlined by Fernando Vargas' twelve round junior middleweight bout against former junior middleweight champion Javier Castillejo of Madrid, Spain. Co-headlining the huge event is a terrific featherweight WBC interim title bout between undefeated Rocky Juarez of Houston, TX and Hector Armando Soto of Los Mochis, Mexico.
