Friday Sees Three Regional Title Fights on CBSSN

Friday Sees 3 Regional Title Fights – This Friday, September 30th at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, legendary boxer Roy Jones Jr. has his promotional hat on as he hosts a five-fight boxing card that sees the featured bouts air on the CBS Sports Network.

The card is being promoted as “Knockout Night at the D” and the live broadcast begins at 8PM PST. The international feed will be carried by ESPN, so check your local listings for start times. If you are in Las Vegas, ticket information is available at the Downtown Las Vegas Event Center website.

The main event has an international flavor as Tijuana, Mexico’s Hanzel Martinez (23-2) faces Emmanuel Quartey (20-2) of Accra, Ghana for the vacant WBA International belt at super bantamweight. Martinez is coming off a layoff of roughly nine months and will be logging his first fight of 2016. Quartey, who will be making his first ring appearance outside the African continent, is also coming off a layoff. He last fought in September of 2015.

More 10-round action sees the vacant WBA NABA title at bantamweight being contested between Juan Antonio Lopez (11-1) and Stephon Young (14-0-3). Lopez is from Mexico, but fights out of Dallas.  Young, who earned a draw in his last outing against Nikolai Potapov for this same vacant belt, hails from St. Louis.

The last of the title fights comes in the form of an 8-round bout that sees undefeated 14-0 John Vera defend his WBA NABA title at 154 lbs against Milorad Zizic (12-1) of Montenegro.
