George Chuvalo Relives Fight with Ali on ESPN Classic June 1
Canadian heavyweight George Chuvalo relives one of the greatest matches in boxing history with IN THIS CORNER Extra: George Chuvalo on ESPN Classic tomorrow (Wednesday, June 1) at 9 p.m. ET and 9 p.m. PT. The celebrated boxer joins TSN’s Russ Anber on the set of IN THIS CORNER for an in-depth look at Chuvalo’s 1966 match against the legendary Muhammad Ali.
The two-hour special features all 15 rounds of action from the epic battle, interspersed with Anber’s exclusive interview with Chuvalo. Topics cover not only the Ali fight, but also Chuvalo’s ring career and his upcoming induction to the Canadian Walk of Fame, to be televised on CTV on June 6 at 7 p.m. ET.
George Chuvalo fought Muhammad Ali for the heavyweight title on March 29, 1966 at Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens. Chuvalo went the distance with Ali, eventually losing in a unanimous decision. After the final bell, Ali was quoted as saying Chuvalo was the toughest man he ever fought.
