Robert Guerrero Injured, Maidana Fight Cancelled
Fight fans had been looking forward to two young guns clashing on August 27. The Robert Guerrero-Marcos Maidana clash was seen as rock-solid test for both men, who would be vying for the WBA junior welterweight title. We say was, because Guerrero hurt his left shoulder in sparring on Wednesday. He had the arm evaluated last night, and it was determined that the injury is so severe, he would not be able to fight Maidana.
That whole card, set to take place at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, is cancelled.
Note: David Avila was present during that sparring session and will file a story on the circumstance of the injury.
