New York, N.Y., Aug. 4, 2011 – Two of boxing’s most intriguing prizefighters – who are set to square off on Sept. 17 in a blockbuster pay-per-view showdown Las Vegas — will be featured on the next installment of the Emmy-nominated HBO series Ring Life, which will be available on the network as well as all the digital media platforms that distribute the series.
Grand Rapids, MI native Floyd Mayweather has never lost a fight since turning pro after the 1996 Olympic Games. His glittering 41-0 record and his dominant ring performance in every weight division that he has entered underscores with certainty that the 34-year-old superstar from a family of professional fighters is ticketed one-day for induction into the Boxing Hall of Fame.
Victor Ortiz, 24, grew up in a family environment that was a constant challenge and filled with turbulence. The Kansas native overcame the roadblocks placed in front of him and has developed into an elite prizefighter who reach the top of mountain on April 16 when he defeated unbeaten welterweight title-holder Andre Berto in one of the sport’s most compelling moments of the year.
Ring Life chronicles the lives of fighters as they define the spirit of boxing; balancing work, family life, training, expectations and the pursuit of their dreams. Front and center in these fighters’ lives, Ring Life presents a chapter on each fighter that delves inside their hearts and minds to discover what drives them in the ring and beyond, in the ultra competitive sport of professional boxing.
