In Vegas This Saturday? Andre Ward At A Store Near You!
The eyes of the boxing world are already focused on Las Vegas for the “Cinco de Mayo” weekend featuring the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs Amir Khan HBO pay-per-view fight. Fight fans are already getting their fill and word is coming in of another opportunity to meet one of boxing's best fighters up close.
Light Heavyweight top gun Andre Ward will be at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada this coming Saturday, May 7th from noon until 2 pm doing a “Meet and Greet” and autograph session.
The Grand Shoppes at The Venetian – Check out the Google Map for the location. Hosting the meet and greet is the Shoe Palace's new Flagship Store at The Venetian.
Ward is there to release the Andre Ward Collection of clothes and shoewear under Nike's Jordan Brand.
Ward is a 2004 Olympic gold medalist and he remains the last American to win Olympic gold in boxing. As a professional he is a perfect 28-0 and the lore around him is that he has not lost a fight since his early teens.
Ward won the Showtime Super 6 Tournament back in 2011 to establish himself as the best 168 lb fighter in the world, with multiple alphabet soup world titles (WBA “Super World”, WBC) on his resume. He was commonly mentioned in the top 5 of all the relevant pound for pound lists and he appeared to have all the pieces in place for a superstar career.
Since then inactivity and a prolonged contract dispute have kept his career in a holding pattern. In 2015, Ward signed with Roc Nation Sports and launched a comeback with a goal of reaching the superstar level that is still within his reach.
Ward won his last outing this past March 26th as he defeated Cuba's Sullivan Barrera by unanimous decision in a fight that saw Ward return as a full blown, no catch-weight Light Heavyweight. Ward has acknowledged the inactivity by vowing to fight three times in 2016. He is scheduled to meet Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev in a year end showdown in a fight that could determine who is recognized as the world's number one pound for pound fighter.
If you're in Vegas, don't miss this chance to meet Andre Ward in person.
