Kelly Pavlik/John Duddy Isn't Done Just Yet
Boxing newest hitmaker, WBC/WBO Middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik from Youngstown, Ohio may glove up again in January, against Irish middleweight contender John Duddy.
The bout would be in Atlantic City, on January 26 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
The bout would be televised on HBO.
But contrary to what Fightnews.com has written, this is not a done deal.
One Duddy camp source tells TSS that no money parameters have been discussed, so to call this a done deal, at this time, is extremely premature.
Both fighters, and Pavlik’s promoter Bob Arum, and Duddy’s promoter, Eddie McLoughlin, are keen to make this happen, so chances are it will.
But it ain’t done yet. Hold tight.
Duddy is scheduled to fight Prince Arron on Saturday.
Pavlik (32-0, 29 KOs) and Taylor (27-1, 17 KOs) jolted AC on Sept. 29, when Pavlik hit the deck in the second round, but stormed back to KO Taylor in the seventh round. But Taylor could use some recuperative time, and some step aside money, too.
Let’s make it happen, Cap’n. Two pale-skinned bangers, with king-sized heart and a genetic predisposition that makes them incapable of taking a step backward, whaling away ate ach other. Remind you of anything, readers? Ward/Gatti, in their primes, with more technical chops, anyone?
