Kovalev vs. Mohammedi Set For July 18, in Vegas, on HBO
Skills can pay the bills, but the masses love the KOs. Will they be rewarded with one on July 18, when Main Events’ scrapper Sergey Kovalev defends his IBF 175 belt against No. 1 ranked Nadjib Mohammedi? The scrap will unfold at Mandalay Bay, closer to where KK makes his home, in Cali, and will run on HBO.
Mo advisor Vince Caruso confirmed the date and place; he tells us his kid has more than a chance to topple the rugged Russian. “I am extremely happy for Nadjib and our team,” he told TSS. “This is what he has wanted… the world championship, and the opportunity to contest for it in front of a large audience here in America. I’m confident he will beat Kovalev under the guidance of trainer Abel Sanchez. I worked extremely hard in these negotiations with my co-manager Jon Ali and legal counsel Ron DiNicola. Now, the rest is up to IronDjib Mohammedi to fulfill his destiny!”
