Light Heavy Isaac Chilemba To Fight in AC Oct. 1
CHILEMBA TO MAKE DBE DEBUT ON MARTINEZ-BARKER
UNDERCARD OCTOBER 1ST IN ATLANTIC CITY
New York, NY – (9/22/2011) – On Saturday, October 1st, light heavyweight Isaac “Golden Boy” Chilemba (17-1-1, 8KO's) will make his DiBella Entertainment (DBE) debut when he takes on Jameson Bostic (23-4, 13KO's) in an eight-round light heavyweight match-up on the undercard of “Noche de Maravilla'” featuring Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez' WBC Middleweight Diamond belt and Ring Championship defense against undefeated European Champion “Dazzling” Darren Barker. In the co-feature bout of the evening, which will be opening up HBO's World Championship Boxing® telecast, will be world-ranked middleweights, “Irish” Andy Lee and Brian Vera, as the two are set to go toe-to-toe in their long-awaited rematch.
Tickets for “Noche de 'Maravilla'” are priced at $300, $200, $100, and $50, and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, at any Ticketmaster retail outlet, or in person at the Boardwalk Hall box office. “It is rare that you see an up-and-coming prospect be in against such tough opposition, but it's a testament to the fighter that Isaac is, and what he is capable of,” stated Lou DiBella, founder and President of DiBella Entertainment. “We are excited to have Isaac as part of our team, and look forward to showcasing him in what is expected to be a very tough and exciting fight on October 1st.” The 24-year-old South African-native Chilemba is the current WBC International Light Heavyweight Champion. Chilemba is expected to be in tough against Bostic, but this is nothing new to the prospect. After suffering the lone defeat of his career back in 2007, Chilemba has gone 10-0-1, and the wins have come against anything but easy competition. In Chilemba's last six fights, his opponents have had an astonishing 94-1-1 record. The only blemish on his record during that time was a split decision draw to fellow undefeated DBE prospect, and current IBO Super Middleweight Champion, Thomas Oosthuizen. In addition to this being Chilemba's first fight under the DBE banner, it is also his first fight outside of South Africa, so he is looking to impress an American audience. As previously mentioned, Bostic is no push-over. After starting his career at 2-3, Bostic has gone an impressive 21-1, including four victories over previously undefeated fighters in the last six years. |
