Margarito Back On Winning Track In Mexico, Snags UD 10
When we heard Bob Arum is thinking that Antonio Margarito is an ace Plan B if Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather cant come to terms, we sort of figured that Margarito wouldnt be in too, too tough in his Saturday night comeback fight. The disgraced boxer, who was suspended in the US for seeking to use hardened pads in his gloves against Shane Mosley early last year, was able to get licensed in Mexico, and he had no trouble with Roberto Garcia at the La Feria de San Marcos Arena in Aguascalientes, notching a UD over ten rounds.
Margarito (154 pounds) scored a knockdown in the first round, and was seen as a 100-88, 99-90, 99-89 victor over Garcia (153) in the judges eyes.
The 32-year-old Margarito goes to 38-6, with 27 knockouts, while the 30-year-old Garcia slipped to 28-3, 21 KOs.
