Mayweather Steps In Front Of Nevada Commission, No Punishment Is Meted

Floyd Mayweather was trotted out in front of members of the Nevada State Atheltic Commission on Tuesday, after that entity became aware of conduct on the part of Mayweather which warranted examination, and perhaps, presumably, censure.

Explanation was offered, according to this live blog account from The Las Vegas Sun, in the form of a Mayweather attorney stating that sometimes portions of the proceedings which are filmed for the Showtime “All Access” docu-mercial show are put together “all for the reality show.”

The meeting got off to a friendly-ish note, signaling the direction of the affair. Mayweather was informed that this deal was a “discussion,” nothing more. The crux of the attention stemmed from the goings on shown in the second to last “All Access” episode, which featured a 31 minute bout between two young fighters, which took place at Mayweather’s Vegas gym.

Being that Floyd is the face of Mayweather Promotions, and has spoken lengthily about the need for fighters to stay smart and safe, not take unnecessary punishment, some sections of the public were taken aback by the seeming hypocrisy involved.

He was asked about the presence of a pot party which took place at his house and was caught on camera. The Sun quotes him as saying, in reaction, “I’m trying to sell more than a fight. It’s a lifestyle.” (Did I hear clapping from the peanut gallery? Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., were you present??)

Any betting captured at “The Dog Hose” was for the cameras, Floyd explained…as if standards and practices are and should be summarily relaxed in the name of entertainment.

Floyd was then asked nicely to behave better, and is sent on his way.
