Michel: Hopkins Still Beats Guys, But Not Adonis or Beterbiev
Promoter Yvon Michel, who helps steer the Adonis Stevenson ship, was impressed with what he saw of Sergey Kovalev on Saturday night, as he showed that yes, time does apply to the pugilist briefly and now formerly known as the youngest old man in sports.
“Kovalev is a complete fighter who showed good preparation, discipline and stamina, something we did not have the chance to see before,” Michel told TSS. “Hopkins will not hurt his legacy with that loss, but he fought with extreme caution, waiting for an opening or mistakes that never occurred. It was a very interesting fight, not spectacular, but all based on tactical aspects. Hopkins would still beat fighters, but not Adonis or Artur Beterbiev!”
