Montiel-Donaire Round By Round..All Two Of Em!
Round 2: Montiel finally awoke following a Donaire over hand right. Montiel’s left hook was warming when Donaire landed a sweeping left hook that put Montiel on the mat. Montiel struggled to his feet at the count of nine but couldn’t survive the onslaught that followed. Referee Russell Mora stopped the contest at 2:25 of the second round.
Round 1: The first was a cautious round in which neither fighter opened up. Donaire landed the few telling blows of the round, the best of which was a hook to the body that momentarily froze Montiel. Donaire 10-9.
