Pacquiao Plans On Retiring Next Year
Pac Man to hang em up in 07
The Philippines ultimate boxing hero Manny Pacquiao plans on retiring from boxing in 2007, according to the Manila Standard. The WBC super featherweight champion met with the press in General Santos City on Wednesday and dropped the bombshell on unsuspecting reporters.
Maybe after about two fights, declared Pac Man, I will retire already. I want to personally supervise my business ventures. It really makes a difference when one manages his own business.
A few of the business Pacquiao owns are a pharmacy, a convenience store, a lotto outlet, and a cock farm.
Pacquiao has been on the high after his recent victories over Erik Morales and Oscar Larios and is slated to fight “El Terrible” in rubber match in Las Vegas on Nov. 18. Whether Manny wins, loses or draws with the Mexican superstar, he’ll fight another legend from south of the border, Marco Antonio Barrera, aka The Baby-Faced Assassin, whom he defeated two years ago.
Manny the P, as smart as he is tough, said he did not want to retire from the sport with physical or mental disabilities, a reasonable enough concern to anyone and everyone who climbs through the ropes, because, he said, he wants to enjoy life after boxing.
When asked about the rumors that he planned to run as vice mayor of Manila, Pacquiao, like a seasoned, hemmed and hawed and refused to answer the question directly, although the mayor of Manila, Lito Atienza, had already announced that the boxing champ had already selected a running mate.
