Roach Talks Cotto-Canelo
Freddie Roach has been in contact with Puero Rican future Hall of Famer Miguel Cotto, Dedham Freddie told me, and the Massacusetts native said he’s optimistic that a deal will be hashed out which will see his guy Cotto gloving up against Canelo Alavrez in the first quarter of 2015.
“Bob Arum told me that things are looking very good for that fight,” he stated. Cotto seemed to think it’s a go, Freddie implied, and is open to starting a camp December 7th, the tutor told me.
I can see that fight being solidified and announced before the holidays, reading in between the lines.
Let’s play make believe, and talk about who you think takes it: the vet, who seems recharged under Roach, or the Mexican, who winced through a masterclass by Professor Mayweather, but could well be too fresh and too strong for the man ten years his senior.
