Rosie Perez & Barry Tompkins To MC Nevada Hall of Fame Dinner

Acclaimed actress Rosie Perez, one of entertainment’s biggest boxing fans, will team with one of boxing’s most famous voices, Barry Tompkins at the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame Dinner and Ceremony August 9. The two will share the stage in the Cohiba Ballroom inside the New Tropicana, Las Vegas, as co-MC’s of the lavish gala, where 18 Inductees will stand as Class of 2014.

Rosie Perez is an Academy Award nominated actress, and Emmy nominated choreographer, who continues to shine in her varied roles both in front and behind the camera. She starred recently in such films as “Gods Behaving Badly” and “Won’t Back Down”, had memorable roles in “Pineapple Express” opposite James Franco and Seth Rogan, and “It Could Happen To You” opposite Nicholas Cage. She became a favorite of the sporting public in her co-starring role as Woody Harrelson’s girlfriend in “White Men Can’t Jump”. Rosie has received numerous awards and honors, among them a 2006 NAACP Image Award. Ms. Perez has been a vocal activist, especially for those causes related to inner-city youth and AIDS.

Barry Tompkins is a 45 year network television veteran. Already inducted into several Halls of Fame himself, Tompkins is well-known for his boxing acumen, which he displayed first in his ten years as lead broadcaster on HBO World Championship Boxing. He followed that with stints at ESPN, FOX Sports and now as blow-by-blow broadcaster on Showtime’s popular ShoBox Series. He has called over 200 World Championship fights, Oakland Raiders football, San Francisco Giants baseball, the Rose Bowl, Wimbledon and the Olympic Games.
