Rousey Takes “ESPY,” And Hard Shot At Mayweather

Finally, someone other than Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao has won a “Best Fighter” ESPY.

Californian mixed martial artist Ronda Rousey broke the stranglehold on the award, won by Floyd in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, and Manny in 2009 and 2011. The UFC’s top arm-breaker, the mischievous limb-mangler Rousey, was this years’ recipient. She beat out Mayweather, and leveled a witty and pointed overhand right at him as she exulted with the trophy. Gennady Golovkin, Terence Crawford, and fellow MMAer Donald Cerrone also trailed the UFC’s top attraction, truly a transcendent figure.

The bantamweight champ sports an 11-0 record and a rep as the most unbeatable fighter in all fight sports, which says something being that her boss, UFC’s Dana White, swore up and down four years ago that women would never fight in his Octagon.

On the red carpet, the 28-year-old said, “I wonder how Floyd feels being beaten by a woman for once,” referring to his record for assaulting his ex. “I’d like to see him pretend to not know who I am now,” she said, glaring a hole through the camera trained her as she was interviewed, having snagged the award before the show, on ABC, kicked off. (And she also snagged Best Female Athlete award, beating out Serena Williams in the fan-poll voting, which is so good, so her dominant arm won’t get muscle-bound, holding the single trophy.)

Rousey has balls, you could say, but that wouldn’t be right, being that testicles are notoriously chinny. She has chutzpah, in a big way, and you simply have to admire her mile-wide pride streak. Bravo, Ronda, well done, and well handled.
