Salita, Collazo Featured On April 13 Show In NY
Salita Promotions and Universal Boxing presents Dmitriy Salita's return to the ring on April 13, 2011 in front of his hometown fans in Brooklyn at Oceana Ballroom (1029 Brighton Beach Ave). Dmitriy is coming off a sensational knockout performance to finish 2010.
Featured on the show is a return of former WBA Welterweight Champion Luis Collazo. Luis captured the title by defeating Jose Antonio Rivera. In his second title defense, Luis fought Welterweight King Ricky Hatton. According to many boxing ringside observers Collazo should have been awarded the decision. Luis is determined to return to the top of boxing and is looking to make a statement in his next bout.
Both fighters are expected to enter the intense stages of their training for their upcoming fights. Dmitriy will head south to Hollywood, Florida, to join Miguel Cotto, Andy Lee and Dominique Dolton to continue his training under watchful eye of Emanuel Steward. Luis going to Fernwood Resorts in the Poconos, known for its isolation and top training atmosphere.
This show is dedicated in Loving memory of Jimmy O'Pharrow (Jimmy O) founder of Starret City Boxing Club, which was a home to the featured fighters on the show. Jimmy O has been in Dmitriy's corner from his first fight to his world title shot and started career of Luis Collazo. Nirmal Lorick who trains both fighters was one of Jimmy O's first students and represented Trinidad in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. Felipe Gomez who is the matchmaker for the show was a student of Jimmy O, Golden Gloves champion and now a sergeant in the New York City Police Department.
