Silverhawk Boxing signs Mitchell twins

LAS VEGAS (March 21, 2006) – Silverhawk Boxing has signed the Mitchell twins, Eric and Aaron, respectively known as “Murder” and “Homicide,” it was officially announced today by Silverhawk’s CEO Tim Doyle.

Eric (18-4-1, 9 KOs) is coming off of a sensational first-round knockout of previously unbeaten Rob Dula (15-0-1) a year ago in St. Louis, while Aaron (23-1-1, 18 KOs) in his last fight stopped Carlton Holland in the fifth-round in New York City.

“We’re excited to announce the signings of Eric and Aaron Mitchell,” Doyle said. “With Buddy McGirt training them, we believe that both will be major players in their weight classes. They are typical Philadelphia fighters who are as tough as they come. We’re going to keep them busy and get them in position for world title fights.”

Eric has won six of his last seven fights; the exception was a 10-round loss decision loss when he appeared a last day replacement against now world junior middleweight champion Ricardo Mayorga. Eric’s most notable victory to date was a 12th round TKO of Ross Thompson (24-4-1) in 2001 for the NABA middleweight title.

“I’m excited about signing with my new promoter, Silverhawk Boxing, and my manager, Rider Boxing,” Eric remarked. “I’m hoping for a world championship fight. They’re good people who are going to get me where I want to be at this stage of my career. My goal is to be world champion. Iit always has been my goal; I’m just looking for a break.

“I’m ready for a title shot at 147 pounds, 154 or 160. I want to be like the great Henry Armstrong, moving up and down (in weight) and winning titles. I have a body like him, too, the kind that can make me a phenom.”

Aaron is riding an 11-fight win streak, all by knockout, including victims such as Manning Galloway, Miguel Julio and Maurice Adams for the IBC middleweight belt. A four-round loss to Keith Mullings in 1993 and controversial 1997 draw with Lloyd Joseph are the only blemishes on Mitchell’s otherwise perfect pro record.

On May 5 in Tampa, Aaron faces Miguel Martin (18-3-1, 9 KOs) for the IBA middleweight championship. “I’m looking forward to fighting and having fun,” Aaron said. “It’s been a while since my last fight (Nov. 13, 2004). I’m pleased to have signed with Silverhawk and I’m hoping my career takes off now. I love it here (Vero Beach, Florida). It’s nice and everybody here has been very nice. I can’t wait for my next fight.”

The Mitchell twins are promoted by Silverhawk Boxing, managed by Rider Boxing and trained by Buddy McGirt.
