Hallback-Braekhus Co-Main To Holyfield-Nielsen
Hallback vs Braekhus May 7 Co-Main Event in Denmark
Chevelle “Fists of Steel” Hallback and Cecelia “First Lady” Braekhus (17-0, 4 KO) are the co main event May 7 in Copenhagen, Denmark on the undercard of Evander Holyfield and Brian Nielsen. The two female world ranked fighters will be battling it out for three titles at 147 pounds- the WBC, WBA and WBO, which Braekhus holds, and recently defended successfully against Jill Emery.
Hallback (28-6, 11 KO) of Tampa, Florida is the current IFBA lightweight champion. “I am ecstatic about the opportunity to fight overseas,” she said. “I fought in Japan in 2005, and always wanted the chance to fight overseas again. I'm pretty well known in the boxing community in the United States but wanted to be known internationally- so what better way than to go and fight on a televised show as Evander Holyfield's co-main event? I really thank God for this opportunity and look forward to bringing those belts back with me to the United States.” This fight with Braekhus is something Chevelle's advisor Bill Calogero worked diligently to make happen. “I'm excited we were able to get the deal done,” he said, “and we're looking forward to a great fight, which the winner of this fight will be at the top of the women's pound for pound rankings. And probably the best fight on the card. Chevelle plans on being at her best and bringing those belts home.”
