Two Women Sue Jermain Taylor
Guilty as charged? Or are they just two little girls from Little Rock?
Middleweight champion of the world Jermain “Bad Intentions” Taylor has been socked with two civil law suits filed by two women who claim that the champ assaulted them during a Sept. 3 performance by comedian Katt Williams at Robinson Auditorium in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The lawsuits were filed in Pulaski County Circuit Court and accuse Taylor of “causing emotional distress and mental suffering” to Jeanine Morse and Yvette McCarty, both of whom want not less than $75,000.
What exactly did Jermain Taylor supposedly do? According to the AP, the complaint says Taylor grabbed Morse’s breasts during the performance and tried to steal a kiss from McCarty, who was working as an usher during the performance, and must have been some kind of fox for him to act that way, if he acted that way.
“I have been falsely accused of improper behavior,” Taylor said in a statement. “It’s a shame that people will go this far for financial gain and try to damage my name. I have always conducted myself with others in the most respectful way.”
The complainants’ attorney, Stephanie Chamberlin, who represents both plaintiffs, doesn’t see it that way.
“My feeling is every woman has a right to not have her body assaulted, no matter who it is,” she said. “Neither one of these women knew of [Taylor’s] celebrity status. This isn’t about money. We are in the position where we feel like if he is going to be represented like a hometown hero, he needs to act like one.”
Taylor’s coach, Ozell Nelson, said Taylor’s wife was with the boxer at the concert and that nothing improper happened. “This is crazy,” he said. “Jermain’s wife was with him. I can’t believe they (the defendants) would try this.”
